The Humanities
The Humanities is a group of subjects that enables students to examine and investigate the processes and challenges that have shaped the modern world.
What are the Humanities?
The Humanities includes the areas of study of Civics & Citizenship, Economics & Business, History and Geography.
The Humanities, through these subject areas, provides a framework for students to examine and investigate the processes and challenges that have shaped the modern world.
Civics & Citizenship and Economics and Business open the students up to explore the systems that shape modern society, focusing on legal and economic systems.
History and Geography provides students with the opportunity to explore the processes and challenges that have shaped, and continue to shape, different societies and cultures.
The Humanities and the curriculum.
Within the Victorian Curriculum the four subject areas under the Humanities 'umbrella' provide students with multiple skills and opportunities to develop at global citizens.
Students will be encouraged to:

The skills students gain from studying the Humanities will support them across the curriculum. Students will engage in tasks that will support their critical analysis abilities which will assist them in their English studies. Students will also engage in tasks that will support their research and enquiry abilities, supporting them in subjects such as English, Media Arts, Art and Drama.

Future Study:
There are a number of future study options in the Humanities at universities.

Arts Degrees: Universities throughout Victoria, such as Melbourne, RMIT, Deakin, Monash, Swinburne and many others offer Arts degrees where students can choose a range of humanities subjects to specialise in, such as history, sociology, anthropology and politics.

Criminology: Deakin University offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Criminology.

City Planning: RMIT university offers a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning.

Law: Universities throughout Victoria offer law degrees, such as Deakin, Monash, Melbourne and Victoria.
