These resources were developed to support student literacy skills and can be utilised in all subjects across the curriculum.
Literacy.
Literacy is fundamental to student education throughout their schooling. Students need an in-depth understanding of literacy in order to succeed in their schooling and daily lives. It is, therefore, evident that literacy needs to be supported across the curriculum.
During my practicums, I have had experience teaching and supporting literacy not only in English classed but also in Humanities, Media, Art, and Science.
During these experiences, I have developed a number of skills and resources to record, understand, evaluate, support and improve student literacy at various levels across their studies.
During my studies at Deakin I was partnered with a year 7 student at a near by school. Each week I worked with this student in her science class. During this experience, I utilised the Probe test to record and evaluate her literacy abilities. From my findings, I created a literacy profile and created strategies and materials to support her literacy abilities during her science lessons.

During the process 'thank you' notes were created for the student involved, relating to various literacy principles that had been covered in her learning. The annotated thank you notes can be seen here (Names have been crossed out for privacy reasons).
